Full user activity tracking
An API-based tracking system to finally see what users actually do on the platform.
Context and problem
The platform had no complete view of what users actually did on it.
My role
I led the project end to end: functional specification, wireframes in PowerPoint, Jira tickets, following development with the engineers, then deploying and testing in production.
What I did
- Designed, with the technical team, a complete user activity tracking system for the Trade Club, built on a dedicated tracking API.
- Defined the list of actions to track, for example: login and logout, every email sent (with whether it was opened and clicked), messages sent and read, requests for offer created, directory searches, company profile views and business card updates.
- Made the reference document of all platform emails, created during the email redesign, part of this tracking framework.
Result
The tracking system was delivered to production and gives a complete view of user activity. I left the company shortly after it went live, before I could put the data to use.
