Passwordless login
Replacing email and password with a magic link for users who rarely log in.
Context and problem
The platform was sending a lot of “forgotten password” emails. Users log in infrequently, so they forgot their password almost every time, which broke the smooth journey we wanted to offer.
My role
I led the project end to end: functional specification, wireframes in PowerPoint, Jira tickets, following development with the engineers, then deploying and testing in production.
What I did
- Redesigned the entire login journey.
- Replaced email and password with a magic link: users enter their email address and receive a link that logs them in.
- Handled the change carefully, since login is both essential and sensitive: every case was designed with the different user access levels in mind.
- Created the new emails dedicated to this journey.
Result
Users no longer have a password to remember, and logging in is more comfortable for them.
